Partnerships for Sustainability

Outstanding achievements of the Integrated Sustainability Education Partnership Program were celebrated at the Partnerships for Sustainability Conference in Sydney on 28 June 2007.

Nine projects developed through the Integrated Sustainability Education Partnership Program were showcased at the Conference as a series of displays and workshops. Over 150 conference delegates attended the conference to view results of each project and explore the vital professional networks that have been developed during the two-and-a-half years of the program.

ISEP Conference Exhibits

The Integrated Sustainability Education Partnership Program brought together for the first time government and non-government organisations in New South Wales to promote sustainable living practises that will help secure the future of our environment.

As well as delivering nine outstanding projects, the partners have created a partnership model that will continue to inform future environmental projects.


Director General of the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) and Secretary of the NSW Environmental Trust, Lisa Corbyn, introduced the Conference and welcomed delegates. Delegates enjoyed a challenging panel discussion on the possibilities and perils of partnerships, facilitated by Murray Hogarth and including Jeff Angel (Total Environment Centre), Bernard Carlon (DECC), Cate Faehrman (NSW Nature Conservation Council) and Genia McCaffery (Local Government and Shires Association NSW).

An important outcome of the Integrated Sustainability Education Partnership Program is the creation of professional development resources. The DECC has conducted a series of professional development workshops that will ensure all partners take essential project management, research skills and program evaluation skills to upcoming projects.

The Integrated Sustainability Education Partnership Program has been funded by a $3.5 million grant from the NSW Government's Environmental Trust. This initiative brings together a range of organisations to conduct a collaborative education program that promotes sustainable living in New South Wales.
