The Nature Conservation Council of NSW held its second successful community photographic Awards Ceremony, 'Our Earth, Our Stories' on the Central Coast on 13 July 2007.
Steve Parish, well-known photographer and competition patron, announced the winners of the competition at the event which recognised both the achievements of individuals and the community as a whole for their work in raising awareness about biodiversity conservation.
Supporting the 2007 exhibition is a new publication, 'The Our Earth, Our Stories Handbook' – a guide on how to run a similar project in any community.

'Our Earth, Our Stories' is an innovative program designed to encourage local residents to use photography to explore the biodiversity of their region.
Through the framework of a photographic competition, individuals and the community are then rewarded for their work in raising awareness about the conservation of biodiversity by presenting the photographs in a touring exhibition that is supported by local businesses, councils and community environment groups.

'Our Earth, Our Stories' has been funded by a $3.5 million grant from the NSW Government's Environmental Trust. This initiative brings together a range of organisations to conduct a collaborative education program that promotes sustainable living in New South Wales.
