Water and Energy workshops go bush

The Affordable Water and Energy Efficiency (AW&EE) project will conduct eight workshops across regional and rural NSW between February and May 2007.

Stretching as far a field as Broken Hill and Bellingen, the workshops are designed to up-skill and resource community service workers working with low income households to implement energy and water saving strategies in the home.

Organisation's most likely to benefit from the workshops include staff and volunteers from Home and Community Care, Supported Accommodation, Emergency Relief and Financial Counseling services.

Participating organisation's can also request an energy and water audit of their workplace and up to $500 worth of retrofits to improve the environmental performance of their premises.

In addition to the workshops, a number of web-based resources are being developed to compliment the training and increase access to the program for everyone.

The AW&EE project is a joint initiative of the NSW Council of Social Service, and the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability.
