| Green-thumb ambassador offers 'Safer Solutions' in the garden |
The Total Environment Centre's Safer Solutions program announces that Jerry Coleby-Williams, presenter from ABC TV's Gardening Australia and one of Australia's most respected gardening experts, will be working with the Safer Solutions team.
Jerry managed the horticultural estate at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney for 11 years and lists managing the 'Rare and Threatened Plants Garden' from concept to completion as a high point in his time at the Sydney gardens. He also was involved in preparing and jointly planting the world's first publicly planted Wollemi Pine.
As a passionate organic gardener and plants man, Jerry was an obvious choice to provide the information on how to reduce chemicals within the garden. In addition to a back garden full of organically grown fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices, Jerry has also cultivated a sustainable lawn, maintained by solar powered equipment
The new gardening component of the Safer Solutions website contains useful gardening FAQs and information on how to choose the right plants, substituting pesticides with organic remedies and an A-Z of Chemicals in the Home.
This project has been assisted by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust
