Hot water system and ceiling insulation rebates available

Rebates to help householders replace electric hot water systems with climate friendly solar, heat pump and gas systems and install ceiling insulation are now available as part of the NSW Government's $100 million Residential Rebate Program.

A rebate is also available to help householders install rainwater tanks. More

New Who Cares research materials available

Further materials from the 'Who Cares about the Environment in 2006?' social research are now available to support the full research report and summary brochure released in late 2006. More

A Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DECC) initiative helping businesses to achieve a competitive environmental advantage is celebrating its first anniversary. More

National Ride to Work Day

An estimated 90, 000 regular and first-time riders from all states and territories joined the inaugural National Ride to Work Day on 17 October 2007 saving greenhouse gas emissions and reducing congestion on roads. More

Sustainability in three languages at Moon Festival

The Ethnic Communities Council of NSW (ECC) hosted an information stall at the Cabramatta Moon Festival on 23 September 2007 where bi-lingual environmental educators, An Nguyen, Quoc-Tran Tran and Tim Huynh discussed sustainability issues in Vietnamese, Chinese and English with Festival attendees. More

Help for pre-schoolers to take first green steps

Climbing The Little Green Steps guide is now available to help local government environmental educators and early childhood teachers to teach pre-schoolers about how to look after their local environment. More

The Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DECC) website includes a range of environmental resources to help councils with their local activities. The website is regularly updated so keep an eye out for new resources available. More

'Hands-on' biodiversity workshops for ethnic communities

A series of half day workshops held between May and September 2007 gave 353 members of the Chinese, Arabic and Vietnamese communities the chance to get up close to native animals and plants. More

OzGREEN wins a Eureka Prize

"Engage, equip and enable". This unique approach to environmental education won the OzGREEN Youth in Action program the $10 000 Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DECC) Allen Strom Eureka Prize for Environmental Sustainability Education. More
