Hot water system and ceiling insulation rebates available

Residential Rebate Brochure

Rebates to help householders replace electric hot water systems with climate friendly solar, heat pump and gas systems and install ceiling insulation are now available as part of the NSW Government's $100 million Residential Rebate Program.

A rebate is also available to help householders install rainwater tanks.

Did you know?

  • Water heating is the biggest energy user in most NSW homes
  • Heating and cooling are the next most household energy intensive activities
  • Up to 40 per cent of household water can be replaced with rainwater.

Hot Water System Rebate Application

By switching from an electric to a climate-friendly hot water system, you could save up to three tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and $300 on your energy bills. You may also be eligible for the following rebates:

  • $300 for a gas hot water system with a 5-star or higher energy rating
  • Up to $1200 for a solar or heat pump hot water system depending on the amount of greenhouse gas emissions saved.

Ceiling Insulation Brochure

By installing insulation, you can reduce heating and cooling costs and save greenhouse gas emissions. You may also be eligible for a rebate to:

  • Cover half the cost of installing ceiling insulation in your home, up to a maximum of $300.

By using rainwater collected from a tank to flush toilets and wash clothes, you will save more drinking water and make room in the tank to collect more water when it rains. You may also be eligible for a rebate of:

  • Up to $1500 for a rainwater tank depending on the size of the tank and whether it is connected to toilets and washing machines.

The Residential Rebate Program is part of the $340 million NSW Government Climate Change Fund established to help business, households, schools and government save energy and water.
