Sustainability in three languages at Moon Festival

The Ethnic Communities Council of NSW (ECC) hosted an information stall at the Cabramatta Moon Festival on 23 September 2007 where bi-lingual environmental educators, An Nguyen, Quoc-Tran Tran and Tim Huynh discussed sustainability issues in Vietnamese, Chinese and English with Festival attendees.

The educators found Festival goers to be most concerned about climate change issues, including pollution from cars, rising sea levels and impacts on our water supply.

Approximately 300 shower timers were given to people who were keen to see their households adopt more sustainable living practices.

The bi-lingual educators are employed as part of the Ethnic Communities Sustainable Living project which is a partnership project between the Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW and the ECC to educate ethnic communities to care for the environment and live more sustainably at home, work and play.

The Moon Festival was held in Cabramatta in South West Sydney with an estimated 70,000 people attending.
